Mitch Kaplan is a Producer and the Musical Director of UnCabaret and was a driving force in bringing UnCabaret back after its hiatus.
An award-winning singer, songwriter and pianist, he has worked as a producer, songwriter and musical director with such iconic luminaries as Sandra Bernhard, Ana Gasteyer and Cady Huffman. Mitch’s songs have been recorded by various artists such as Chaka Khan, Thelma Houston, Sister Sledge and Martika and he has appeared on TV in shows such as “Will and Grace,” “Roseanne,” “The Sandra Bernhard Experience” on A&E, “I’m Still Here Damn It” on HBO and “The Tonight Show.”
Mitch and Beth began their collaboration on the stage show “100% Happy 88% of the Time” which had an extended run in Los Angeles and has toured nationally. Then a mutual friend brought them to First & Hope with the thought that they might do a show there. Beth had many ideas. Mitch suggested bringing UnCabaret back. Beth said no way. Mitch pointed out how the beautiful room was perfectly suited to UnCab. Beth said no. Fade out fade in they re-opened the show a month later and it has been running since Jan 10, 2012.
Mitch produced the UnCabaret Amazon episodes with Beth and director Adam Salky and can be seen every week holding court at the keyboard.
