It’s confirmed! Beth Lapides hosts the best alternative comedy show in DTLA! Join Beth and her guests on Sunday, February 12 for some much needed laughter!
Sam Pancake is a whirling dervish of storytelling. You might recognize him from his appearances on Gilmore Girls, Where the Bears Are, Transparent, Will & Grace etc. Or know him from his extravaganzas with our friend Drew Droege. But none of that that quite compares with hearing this southern boy get tall with a tale.
Alec Mapa is so bighearted and openhearted and has such a compelling story that it’s no wonder they call him America’s Gayasian Sweetheart. You may know him from Ugly Betty, Two Broke Girls, Jane the Virgin, or Desperate Housewives. Or from his Showtime special Alec Mapa: Baby Daddy based on his award-winning solo show that irreverently chronicles his journey to fatherhood via foster adoption. But get to know him better. Well worth it. We heart Alec Mapa.
Julie Goldman is a LADYGENTELMAN. She is also wildly funny, a force of nature. She’s a physical comedian, a musical comedian, an LGBT comedian, a Jewish comedian. She’s also a generous comedian, a sexy comedian. A butch comedian. But mostly she is a funny comedian. You’ve seen Julie on Bravo The People’s Couch, Logo The Big Gay Sketch Show, RuPaul’s Drag U, The New Normal and The Sopranos. She was a writer for The Fashion Police and Funny Girls. But there is nothing like seeing Julie live onstage.
Matthew Patrick Davis has a way of at once being cheerfully, almost perky and taking on some of the most difficult socio-political stuff. He is also the tallest performer to have graced the UnCabaret stage. Matthew is a versatile actor/musician/composer and you’ve seen him in The Sarah Silverman Program, Comedy Bang! Bang! and Community. He has bridged the gap between The Kennedy Center and his in Coke commercials. That’s the kind of thing you can do when you are tall and have a tall smile. He also has written a musical called The Compete (Abridged) History of America. That’s a tall order.
Justin Sayre A raconteur of the fabulous kind. A writer on 2 Broke Girls. The author of YA novel Husky. Instigator extraordinaire of The Meeting at Joe’s Pub in NYC. He’s the one you keep asking us… what’s his name, we love him! Check out Justin’s debut comedy album, The Gay Agenda, now available on iTunes.
David Mills is an expat American comic based in London. He’s recently opened for Margaret Cho on her UK tour and is well known for his rants on BBC London Radio. His solo stand-up show, David Mills is Smart Casual was the underground cult hit of the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has played London, Glasgow and San Francisco. You’ve probably seen him with Meryl Streep in Florence Foster Jenkins.
