Lauren Weedman

Lauren Weedman is an UnCabaret favorite who made her television debut as a featured correspondent on Comedy Central’s Emmy Award-winning The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. She has since made people laugh in such films as The Five-Year Engagement and Date Night, and in numerous TV shows, including a memorable turn as Horny Patty in the HBO series Hung.

Her solo show, Homecoming, ran Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre and The New York Times raved, “Like Bob Newhart in his early stand-up routines, she’s particularly good at making her points — and making us feel clever. Most important, she’s just plain funny, physically and verbally.” Her most recent solo shows include No…You ShutupBust and Wreckage.

Her first collection of essays, A Woman Trapped in a Woman’s Body, was named one of the Top Ten Indy Books of 2007 by Kirkus Review and she is currently racing to meet her deadline for a new collection. Lauren’s writing can also be found in Slake Magazine and in The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2005 (compiled by Dave Eggers).

Lauren, like so many of our very favorite performers, swims with ease in the stream of consciousness. For more on Lauren’s writing/acting/shows go to her website at laurenweedman.com or check out her imdb page.
