UnCabaret is the ground breaking, a legendary venue for alternative comedy, specializing in an idiosyncratic conversational story based style. Beth lapides, creatrix and host leads the intimate, very personal shows in live and media formats. The show has been running in LA for over 20 years and has produced projects for Comedy Central, Amazon, Comedy World Radio, audible.com. The talent is the cream of the crop including top names like Roseanne Barr, Margaret Cho, Sandra Bernhard, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Nealon, Janeane Garofalo, Kathy Griffin and Jennifer Coolidge.
Chris Woods came to us the old fashioned way… through Facebook. Oh right. The new fashioned way. I was immediately intrigued by his massive hair and enthusiastic message. But what really interested me was the combination of virtuoso violin playing with his passion for creating comedic stories. He is a very in the moment performer and practices what Michael Beckwith preaches at Agape where he also performs.
Chris has done some of the wildest sets this year at UnCab and we are excited about doing this special one night only show with him and his friends – opera singer and dancer Lauren Woods (related by love:), beatboxer Joshua Silverstein (I Didn’t Do It) and comedian Mike Glazer (Food Network, Second City). Their material is both light and deep. Absurd and yet practiced.
Chris started playing the violin at the age of 4, and has performed around the world as a musician. He has been featured on American Idol, The Voice, the Grammys, The Conan O’Brien Show, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, recorded for artists such as Justin Timberlake and Will.I.Am. He’s also an actor, having appeared in commercials and television, including The Fresh Beat Band on Nickelodeon.
It will be that kind of one of a kind night. TICKETS
Holly Palmer has sung with David Bowie and Idena Menzel and on Sunday 7/27 she will grace the UnCabaret stage with her dazzling songbird self.

Either way half off Summer Special!
We’ve had a run of Sold Out Summer Specials the past few weeks, and this week we have a regular show, which is now kind of a special show because we’ve been having so few. And plus what a special line up. If you want to know what alt comedy means….
Lauren Weedman is a spectacular storyteller who you should look at not just because she is a star of the new HBO series Looking! Her storytelling is storyspinning at its finest. Propulsive and mesmerizing.
The Advocate calls Sam Pancake (Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm) “The hardest working homo in Hollywood.” He’s a master at swimming in the stream of consciousness. Dark and edgy, a southern boy and as layered and delicious as an actual stack of his namesake breakfast food.
Julie Goldman (The People’s Couch, Showtime) is the rare comedian who can push so far and so fast she feels like she’s pulling. An absolute phenom. Also she happpens to be a big lezzy and lights up the house with lezzy guitar songs! You won’t believe you haven’t heard of her yet. She is rarely avail on a Sunday so yay! Buckle up.
Carlie and Doni could not be more adorable in a bad girl sort of way. One of them is gay one of them is straight. They are best friends and beach bums. We featured them in our Amazon Episodes. They have been touring the college circuit and we are glad to have them back among our post pack. See their Vine promo below.
Holly Palmer is a finely tuned songbird, with massive credits. She’s toured extensively with David Bowie and Gnarles Barkley. Has collaborated with, among many others, Michael Buble, Dr. Dre, Dave Navarro and Billy Preston, Idna menzel and our very own Allee Willis. She is the real (pretty) deal.
But! It’s not just who we have at UnCabaret that’s so special.
It’s what they do when they get there.
The comedians answer this question: What’s going on with you now? Which means it’s always a new story. Sometimes a big story. About the big now. This year, this decade, this whole life. And sometimes that now is today. On the way to the show. But it’s always vibrant and unwrapped. Unzipped. And always supported by the best comedy crowd in Los Angeles. Come be part of the magic now.
