Mindfully Funny Nowness in DTLA

UnCabaret performers, besides being funny, great storytellers, unique voices, TV stars and lovely humans, are all fluent in the language of now. Mindful, present and accounted for. This week we actually have a meditation teacher among us.

Missi Pyle is our BFF! Recently named one of the most prolific actors on Hollywood by New York Magazine, Missi is a big hearted Southern Belle, actress and singer (Inside Amy Schumer, Two and a Half Men, The Artist, Gone Girl) and also a new Mom! Hearts a flutter, Missi’s here!

Mary Lynn Rajskub is best known for her iconic performance as “Chloe” on FOX’s 24. She’s guest starred on 2 Broke Girls and Californication, and was a regular panelist on Chelsea Lately.  Mary Lynn can currently be seen on the newly picked up pilot Highston or as Boyle’s girlfriend on Brooklyn 99, a drunk teacher on Those Who Can’t and also a lawyer on The Girlfriend Experience. On the big screen, Mary Lynn recently wrapped shooting In Search of Fellini. Other films include, Safety Not Guaranteed (Duplass Bros.), The Kings of Summer which she starred in with Alison Brie, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally.

Pablo Das   is a funny, “mindful”, acoustic folk-punk (or, if you prefer antifolk or unfolk) singer. He’s recorded solo and with his band “Testosterone Kills” and recently opened for Kimya Dawson (Juno soundtrack) at her Off the Sauce show, an annual celebration of sobriety and recovery. Pablo is also a recovery counselor and teaches at the wonderful Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation.

Byron Bowers Master of the slow burn and thrilling to watch. Byron loves to tell a story, is playful, experimental, unloving and a risk taker. Can you tell we love Byron? One of the very few stand-up comedians to have appeared on Jimmy KimmelByron has also toured nationally with Dave Chappelle, Hannibal Buress,  Eric Andre and shared the spotlight at the Oddball Comedy Festival in 2013 with Louis CK, Jim Gaffigan and Sarah Silverman.

Scott Turner Schoefield  is a player in the trans liberation movement. And also a player in the sense of being in plays! But from the start of his career his gender expression prevented him from being cast in traditional plays. So he wrote one-man shows, and began a national tour to critical acclaim. He has gone on to sell out some of the biggest theatre venues in the world. Plus you may know Scott from The Bold and the Beautiful. Scott is both bold and beautiful! #soapoperastar #genderqueer #groundbreaking

Terra Naomi changed the independent music landscape in 2006 – when she posted a series of videos on YouTube – quickly building a worldwide audience of millions and winning the YouTube artist of the year award. She signing deals with Universal Music Publishing and Island Records, entertained audiences from Kashmir to Lilith Fair to Wembley Stadium where she performed for 80,000 people. She’s shared the stage with artists like Natasha Bedingfield, Sara Bareilles, Martha Wainwright. Her songs have been featured in dozens of films, television shows, and commercials. Terra has returned to her roots as an indie artist and is prepping to record her new album which she funded with her innovative #helpyoufly campaign.

Oh and as a side note Scott saw Terra perform at UnCabaret, was taken with her, and now 6 months later, they have fallen in love and have moved in together. #uncabaretlove!
