Sunday. August 7, 2016. Beth Lapides makes herstory and history every week with the best alternative comedy and music in DTLA! It seems like everyone is returning from somewhere.
Rebecca Corry: Stupendous funny of the storytelling kind. You’ve seen Rebecca (One Big Happy, Comedy Central Presents) many times on the UnCab stage but she’s been on the road and away for too long. Yay! Rebecca’s back.
Laura Kightlinger: Critically acclaimed writer The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman, SNL is somehow with drier than a dry martini and sillier than a Slinky. She’s also the author Quick Shots of False Hope, an actress and a producer Two Broke Girls, Will & Grace, Roseanne. Always thrilled to have our multi-talented great good friend join us at our Sunday show but especially this week when she is just back from working on a TV show in China! Do tell!
Melinda Hill: Host of Romantic Encounters, a storytelling show and an award-winning web series. Melinda has been called “a female LOUIE.” Her critically acclaimed CD The Accidental Bisexual is available on iTunes. And she has a story of touring with the USO.
Scott Turner Schofield: is an award-winning actor and diversity speaker and monologist who has the distinct honor of being the first openly transgender actor on daytime television. And the first female-to-male person in a major recurring role on broadcast TV as Nick on CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful. Yay Scott. He is also celebrating a 6 month anniversary with Terra Naomi, see below. They happened to meet and fall in love at UnCabaret. Just saying.
Chelsea Stock: After a very dramatic audition process Chelsea started rehearsals for Disney’s The Little Mermaid on Broadway two weeks after graduating from The Boston Conservatory. She originated the role of Andrina and made her Broadway debut and eventually took over the lead role of Ariel, remaining in the role until the end of the run. A California girl at heart Chelsea has moved here and is finding a place for her phenom of a voice. Bring your big ears.
Terra Naomi: changed the independent music landscape in 2006 – when she posted a series of videos on YouTube – quickly building a worldwide audience of millions and winning the YouTube artist of the year award. She signing deals with Universal Music Publishing and Island Records, entertained audiences from Kashmir to Lilith Fair to Wembley Stadium where she performed for 80,000 people. She’s shared the stage with artists like Natasha Bedingfield, Sara Bareilles, Martha Wainwright. Her songs have been featured in dozens of films, television shows, and commercials. Terra has returned to her roots as an indie artist and is prepping to record her new album which she funded with her innovative #helpyoufly campaign. Her last UnCab performance was part of that campaign and t was at that show she met Scott Turner Schofield. (see above).
