Stories and deep dish comedy plus explosively bright music. Specifically…
The one and only Rebecca Corry is back from her once-in-a-lifetime Million Pibble March on Washington with tales to tell.
Erin Foley’s podcast is called Sports Without Balls! I am not a fan of sports but I sure am a fan of Erin. (I am also a fan of our podcast which has episodes featuring Rebecca, The Sklar Brothers, Daniel Radcliffe, Lili Taylor, John Riggi, Ana Gasteyer, Tim Bagley, etc.)
If you have not yet seen Chris Woods do his wild thing with us you are missing something very special — a virtuoso violin player with a big heart and a huge sense of fun!
Emily Heller uses the Mr before her name and that is not the only wonderful thing about her. You may have seen her on Conan. She has been named a comic to watch by both Variety and Comedy Central and on top of that she has a series called the future. More here.
We are always happy to have an UnCab debut, and this week we welcome, from DC, Kyle Martin!
Plus it is Louis’ birthday and so that means candles making things even brighter and cake!
Have a great week, see you on the sunniest Sunday of the year!

Merrill Markoe is one of the true originals in comedy writing. If you are talking comedy in LA you are talking Merrill. Though she makes very few appearances her tone, her voice helped define an entire generation or maybe three of comedy writers.
The briefing: She is an Emmy winning writer, famous for co-creating Late Night with David Letterman. Without Merrill, no Stupid Pet Tricks. She is a keen observer of human, as well as canine behavior, and her TV shows, books, articles all combine her compassionate take on life with her acute sense of the ironic and absurd. Merrill started off as a visual artist and she continues to be a visionary.
You might recognize her from her appearances on Letterman, TV Nation, Friends and have probably read her writing in NY Times, Rolling Stone, LA Times and Vanity Fair etc. I asked Merrill “what makes you, you?” on UnCabaret’s podcast UnCabaret UnStaged and the episode is Something Extremely Important.
Along with Merrill we are thrilled to welcome Erin Foley (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Conan), Kira Soltanovich (Tonight Show, Girls Behaving Badly), James Davis (Chelsea Lately, Funny or Die), Mak Grgic (Cinema Verisimo, Croatian Chamber Philharmonic) and Deborah Pardes (Love and Discipline, Strange Tattoo, To Have Sex).

Los Angeles Magazine recently called UnCabaret one of the best comedy shows in LA.
Here’s another reason why…
YOU MIGHT KNOW PAUL DOUCETTE FROM A LITTLE BAND CALLED MATCHBOX TWENTY. PAUL’S SOLO PROJECT IS BRILLIANTLY TITLED THE BREAK AND REPAIR METHOD. HE’S A HUGELY GIFTED MUSICIAN & WE’RE SO EXCITED TO HAVE HIM AT UNCAB!
I LOVE MY SOUL SISTER, THE ONE AND ONLY MOON ZAPPA! I LOVE HER STORY AND HER VOICE AND HER CHIC YOGA THING. SHE’S AN AUTHOR, AN ACTRESS, A RECORDING ARTIST, AND VERY DELICIOUSLY FUNNY. SHE IS ALSO BRINGING ALONG AN EX, THE ABOVE-MENTIONED PAUL DOUCETTE, FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT.
HAPPY TO REPORT UNCAB FAVE KAREN KILGARIFF WILL BE IN THE HOUSE. WHEN SHE IS NOT UNCABBING SHE IS MAKING TWITTER WORTH IT. YOU KNOW HER FROM MR SHOW, HER WRITING ON ELLEN AND ROSIE. SHE MAKES DRY SEEM WET. HAPPINESS.
YOU MIGHT HAVE SEEN THE FIRECRACKER KNOWN AS GREG FITZSIMMONS THIS WEEK ON CHELSEA LATELY AND @MIDNIGHT. YOU CAN HEAR HIM ON HIS WONDERFUL PODCAST AND SEE HIM ON AN UNCABARET AMAZON EPISODE. IF YOU RECOGNIZE HIM IT MAY BE FROM HIS COMEDY CENTRAL SPECIALS OR HIS MANY APPEARANCES ON LETTERMAN, CONAN, KIMMEL, OR HIS SHOW ON HOWARD STERN’S SIRIUS XM CHANNEL. HE REALLY LIKES TO GET INTO IT AND WE LIKE TO GET INTO IT WITH HIM!
GREG COPE WHITE IS A LONGTIME FRIEND OF UNCABARET. HE IS ALSO, AMONG OTHER THINGS, A FOOD WRITER (EAT GREG EAT) WITH A VORACIOUS APPETITE FOR LIFE, A HUFFPO BLOGGER, AND, MOST PERTINENTLY, THE AUTHOR OF THE PINK MARINE, A STORY YOU DEF MUST HEAR THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!
IT’S SORT OF STRANGE THAT LAST SUNDAY WE HAD THE AMAZING HEATHER REID (IF YOU MISSED HER, PLEASE DO NOT NEXT TIME SHE IS ON) AND THIS WEEK WE HAVE KEN REID. WE HAVE NEVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF EVEN ONE REID AND NOW WE ARE REID RICH! KEN WAS NOMINATED IN BOTH 2010 AND 2012 AS BEST COMEDIAN IN BOSTON BY THE BOSTON GLOBE, WHO CALLED HIM A POP CULTURE MAVEN. BUT HE IS IS, MORE IMPORTANTLY TO US, A WONDERFUL STORYTELLER WHO HAS OPENED FOR SOME VERY PICKY COMEDIANS, INCLUDING EUGENE MIRMAN AND OUR OWN PATTON OSWALT. CATCH HIM SUNDAY BEFORE HE GATHERS HIS TOYS AND GOES BACK HOME.
YES, IT’S A VERY SPECIAL MELANGE THIS WEEK, BUT THE TRUTH IS,
IT WON’T BE THE SAME WITHOUT YOU!
