UnCabaret has been the drum beat of my creative life in LA. I created it because there wasn’t anything like it, and though it spawned a whole movement in the comedy world, there isn’t another show exactly like it. I ask performers to answer this question: what is going on with you now? It’s part stand-up, part storytelling. Story based stand up. I do a set, and host the whole night starting with making sure you are comfortably situated. I don’t know why, that has just ended up being part of the show.
UnCabaret has been seen on Amazon, Comedy Central, heard on Sirius, NPR and audible.com etc. We’ve toured, produced spin-offs and web series. Been featured on The Today Show, This American Life and E!. But the true heart of UnCabaret is the Sunday night show which is stories and storied.
In our latest incarnation, since January 2012, our Sunday show has been fortunate to call First & Hope home. It’s a bit of a secret room, but so worth the effort of finding. Intimate, comfortable, elegant, with the feel of a speakeasy, on the corner of First and Hope. Yes, it’s the name of the venue and the location! Very easy to get to. On Sundays, about 25 minutes door to door from West Hollywood.
I love it when you come to UnCabaret.

There is some free street parking. More of it on those nights when Disney Hall and The Music Center, with whom we share the Cultural Corner of First and Hope, are dark.
$9 Valet Garage under venue. Pull into the driveway off First, before Hope. Take a left into the garage. When you leave the garage you walk up a flight of stairs or take the elevator into a Plaza. First and Hope is in the back corner. Yes, it is a little hidden. But that just keeps the riff raff away:)
We are happy to help you celebrate your birthday. We didn’t used to be corny like that, but lately, with everything, we like to light the candles and cheer you on. The band will play, you can bring a cake or not. If you are bringing a group let us know in advance and we can carve out a seating area for you. Yay you! That’s our feeling about it.
Any other question: email@example.com or 213-706-3630.

UnCabaret pushes comedy to the edge. Gayer, girlier and more visceral than most comedy shows. The Hollywood Reporter calls the legendary show that launched the alternative comedy movement “A radical comedic conspiracy… outrageously funny!” Each show features some big shot stand-up performers, special musical guests and some of the brightest new talent from shows like SNL, Chelsea Lately and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Episodes were recorded at the weekly live show in a intimate little club in Downtown Los Angeles, with bonus off stage footage, you get up close and personal.
