Our alt comedy anniversary show and celebration will be at the Theater at The Ace in DTLA on Nov 18, 2018.
Creatrix Beth Lapides hosts comedy luminaries and their musical muses. Each show is a one time only night orchestrated to uplift and inspire. Comedians, writers, actors and personalities tell never before told stories along with digging into the now. Mitch Kaplan is our Musical Director.
UnCabaret has appeared on Amazon, Comedy Central, audible.com and is featured in and on CNN, NY Times, PBS, LA Times, Entertainment Weekly, NPR etc. Spin off shows have included the critically acclaimed “Other Network Festival of UnAired Pilots” and “Say The Word”, TV writers reading stories of their own lives.
UnCabaret is stories and storied. It’s intimate, conversational and funny.

We have produced 5 critically acclaimed CD’s: Freak Weather Feels Different, The Un and Only, The Good The Bad and The Drugly, Say the Word Volumes 1 and 2.
We’ve been featured in This American Life, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The LA Weekly, NPR's All Things Considered etc. As well as "We Killed: The Rise of Women in American Comedy", CNN’s History of Comedy, PBS’s Women in Comedy and in Kathy Griffin’s memoir.
We co-produced The Coming Out Party. And we were the incubator for Julia Sweeney’s God Said Ha!
Our .edu branch has been in operation for over a dozen years under various titles including the current workshop Infinite Writing and the seminar You But Funnier and in the past The UnCab Lab, The Comedian’s Way and The Beth Lapides Workshop.
We’ve been hosted by UCLA Extension, IOWest, The Skirball Center, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, LA Gay and Lesbian Center, Mbar, PS 122, Second City and Actors Comedy Studio.
